Alarm Rationalisation

Core has recently completed an 18 month alarm rationalisation and prioritisation project covering 10 assets for a US based client.

THE PROJECT

The project has been challenging not only because of the quantity of alarms involved, but due to COVID restrictions, all interactive sessions had to be held remotely which introduced other challenges such as time differences and the impact of the hurricane season.

• Nearly 1,000,000 tags reviewed
• Number of alarms reduced by 50%
• Number of events increased by 100%
• Over 400,000 tags with undefined priorities updated to match client requirements
• Alarm responses written for 50,000 tags
• Overall alarm distribution resulted in a 50% reduction of high priority alarms.

Core has received very positive feedback from the client who has a common alarm management strategy implemented across all assets in the Gulf of Mexico region.
